To finish the Sprint for the week, here is what you must do:

After the initial planning for your project is complete (i.e. Gantt chart, project proposal, initial designs) the next big roadblock before beginning work is knowing what you need to get started. This may be:
For most of you, I imagine your chomping at the bit to get started doing something physical and may need materials. if this is so, then read below or see the document on the resources page. As you begin working on your projects, you may discover you need materials for your project. The key to our success in doing this is to not just tell me as a I will more than likely forget, and even if I remember I likely will misunderstand what you need. So, our method to stay organized for this will be to: 1. Create an excel/word/pdf/note/paint/whatever file on which you list an item by item list of what you need, the quantity and where it can be found (such as an amazon link) 2. Upload this file into your slack channel (keeping it here in your slack channel will be helpful for when we come back to document the project) Do not expect me to just buy whatever your heart desires, however, as our pockets our not bottomless and sometimes the creativity in your wishes are borderline alarming (😊). We do have a class budget, the school/district will buy things on occasion and I’m always on the hunt for grants. Rather, expect your initial publishing into slack to be a starting point between you and I as we find what is feasible. Alternatively… If you are working on a project that you wish to keep then you are more than welcome to buy your own materials (if the school buys it then it’s the schools property). Still, just make sure to check with me whatever you want to bring to make sure it’s school appropriate and safe. As a right-of-passage to beginning our projects, I need two things from you first:
Once you have these, you are off and running on your project and learning. Our next steps will be for me to sit with you or your group and for us to develop an instructional plan for you to learn what you need to learn or get started building your project. notes on sketching: notes_sketching.pdf
Here's a little more step by step set of instructions for drawing basic shapes: howtodraw_steps.pdf We have the laptop carts checked out today, so we're going to take care of two things today. First, introducing an optional opportunity to y'all to compete in the, TSA, the Technology Student Association (this is optional and can be done outside of this classroom, but if you are interested you can join and compete in one of these events as a part of this class). Second, to set up our online portfolios. The majority of your project work will be documented on these, so putting in a good effort on its foundation today will set you up for success for the remainder of the year.
TSA (Technology Student Association) Objective: Familiarize ourselves with TSA and completion opportunities
Portfolios Objective: Get class portfolio skeleton setup
To those of you I have taught previously, welcome back! To those of you who are in my class the first time I look forward to getting to know you throughout the semester. Expect this blog to be updated most days (but less so than in the Foundations course) with important documents and information which you can access during class or at home. The Concepts class will be all (or as close to all as I can) digital and all documents and turn-ins will be through this blog. As such, it is important to get familiar with this site and make it a habit to check.
I look forward to (re-)meeting you all and am excited to get started! Resources from day 1
