By tomorrow, we will officially be done with the first unit of this course and begin a unit on Civil Engineering! [cue applause] To commemorate this, we will be having our first summative grade tomorrow and preparing for it today --for those of you who are not aware, a summative grade is a "major" grade covering the summation of your knowledge, usually a test. In my aversion to tests, you will have a couple options for what your summative grade will look like:
1. Presentation to class (no more than two per group) 2. YOUR OWN notes (can be hand written or digital) 3. Project & accompanying documentation
5. Test (I have a practice test you can look at)
Whatever you choose as your summative grade, we will spend today preparing for it and tomorrow you will either present, continue documenting/note-taking, or take the test. For all non-test summatives, here is the rubric which will be used:

Today we are talking about the universal systems model, a way in which any system (such as a product, an action or an organization) can be characterized.

Here's a little more step by step set of instructions for drawing basic shapes: howtodraw_steps.pdf We have the laptop carts checked out today, so we're going to take care of two things today. First, take our SGM (student growth measure) testing. This IS NOT a grade for you, but is a beginning of year testing to track growth throughout this course. No need to stress about it, but please take it seriously. Second, introducing an optional opportunity to y'all to compete in the, TSA, the Technology Student Association (this is optional and can be done outside of this classroom, but if you are interested you can join and compete in one of these events as a part of this class).
TSA Objective: Familiarize ourselves with TSA and completion opportunities
