On February 1st we will be having our first summative grade! [cue applause] This will be a grade on having the progress on your project updated and present on your portfolio. I'm not expecting you to have a completed project in any way whatsoever, but what you should have are evidence of the first four steps of the engineering design process: Ask, imagine, research & plan.
What this will mean is that you personally have evidence (text, images, pdf attachments, etc.) of your project work and/or learnings on your portfolio. It is 100% acceptable if some of the text between you and your teammates on your portfolio are identical, but it has got to be there on your portfolio. I’m looking at your portfolio as if I am a potential employer, not as a teacher who has seen you every day this year: if it’s not on your portfolio or I can’t understand how you were involved in the project than it’s as if your work never happened. ***a special note on the individual student's roles criteria: as someone who has interviewed people for positions from full-time jobs to high school summer programs, this is a major point of focus. People will discuss projects which they were a part of in great detail and what their company/team did, but it is very hard to know for an outside interviewer to know how integral this individual was to this project and what they actually did, or were they simply just there.
